Did you know that New Zealand has approximately 15,000 Km of coastline? That makes it the ninth longest coastline in the world, and one of the longest coastlines when compared to land-mass. Most of this is a result of the rugged nature of the coastline, and the myriad of islands that make up our fair country.

The coast of of our comparatively small country is also among the most diverse in the world, ranging from sand dunes at the top of the North Island, to some of the highest sea cliffs in the world, rising almost a vertical kilometer from sea level in places like Milford Sound, deep in the Fiordland National Park . In between are flat ocean beaches, and deep natural harbours like Auckland’s Waitemata, Wellington’s Port Nicholas, Canterbury’s Lyttelton, and Dunedin’s Otago Harbour.
