The Firth of Thames in the North Island is said to have one of the best sunsets in New Zealand. This phototaken barely two minutes walk from my parents house, helps bear that out. Map That Image

Ruataniwha Inlet - Collingwood

The sleepy settlement of Collingwood, and the Ruataniwha Inlet on the Aorere River is the northernmost terminus of SH 60. Despite being in the South Island, Ruataniwha Inlet is in fact further north than the nations capital city, Wellington, at the southern end of the North Island. In fact it is almost on the same Latitude as the North Island town of Levin! Map That Image

Mokihinui River

Looking west down the Mokihinui River towards the sea. Low sun, low clouds, reflections. All this could soon be a distant memory if a proposed hydro dam goes ahead. Map That Image

Mitre Peak Sunset

As the setting sun departs from Fiordland, the sky becomes a beautiful shade of orange, reflected in the still waters of the Milford Sound, silhouetting Mitre Peak perfectly. Milford Sound was once described as a living “artists palette” with constantly changing colours. Google Map Link

Kaikoura Coast (III)

While we waited for seating at The Green Dolphin Restaurant, we popped down to a playground on the Kaikoura Foreshore. Jumping down onto the beach I was able to get this stunning early evening shot of the Seaward Kaikoura Ranges. Map This Image
