Shags Taking Off
We ended up staying with my folks for 5 weeks following the Canterbury Earthquake in Feb 2011. Whilst there I saw this octet of Shags who promptly took off in alarm as I tried to sneak up on them. Map This Image

Ruataniwha Inlet - Collingwood
The sleepy settlement of Collingwood, and the Ruataniwha Inlet on the Aorere River is the northernmost terminus of SH 60. Despite being in the South Island, Ruataniwha Inlet is in fact further north than the nations capital city, Wellington, at the southern end of the North Island. In fact it is almost on the same Latitude as the North Island town of Levin! Map That Image
