Hi Everyone,

The last few months have seen a varied array of trips undertaken by us, to various far flung locales in the South Island of New Zealand.

First off, in late December 2011, we visited Waimate, and the Wataki area for a few days camping, and as usual the cameras came along too! We found ourselves heading across to Kurow, and up through the Hakataramea Valley “Up the Haka” as the locals call it, and over Meyers Pass, back into Waimate. It was a longish day for the kids, but they handled it pretty well.

Next was a few days family camping at Mt Somers, inland from Ashburton, and nestled at the base of the Southern Alps. Superfluous question! Of course the cameras went too! And, well, yes, the kids came too! We visited the Ashburton Lakes area, as far as the Rangitata River system, and the entrance to the Erewhon Station.

More recently I managed a trip to Kaikoura, and had a successful outing with Whalewatch Kaikoura. Thanks guys! Got some great photos of the Sperm Whales’ tails as they prepared to dive. These amazing creatures can grow up to 18 metres long, weigh as much as four elephants, and dive up to 2000M off the Kaikoura Coast!

Last, but by no means least, we’ve been experimenting with a torch, and some long slow exposures on the camera. Some surprisingly cool results too!

You will also see a Caption starting to appear alongside each photo. These will be gradually progressed over the next few weeks, until all our images have a little something about them to whet your appetite. Also new is our “PHOTO OF THE WEEK” which will be updated regularly on our home page. Hope you are all doing well in the New Year. Don’t forget to tell your friends & family about us!

Titled “Te Wai Pounamu – The South Island -” This 70+ page full colour E-Book presents a stunning protrayal of New Zealands majestic South Island.

Presented in a PDF format this e-book is optimised for a PC size screen, but should still present well on a tablet PC. Note because of the full colour images, and a desire to manitain the native layout and formats, this e-book may not be suitable for the Kindle style e-book readers on the market

There are links back from Google Maps to the individual photos on this site, so that you can see what photo was taken where.

We’re in the process of adding a Google Map link to individual photo information on this site so you can go to the map from the photo, which you can only do with some images at this stage.

Initially only covering the New Zealand Photos, we’re now also adding our Japan Photos to our Google Map.

We hope to have this process completed in the next few weeks
